Here is my humble entry for the current on-line model competition, namely the well-known Mitsubishi Twin-Engined Transport J-BACI “Nippon” which undertook a goodwill round-the-world flight in 1939. I used the Arii 1/72 scale kit which I found to be quite acceptable, considering that it is a re-boxing of the old LS kit dating back to the 1970’s, although the surface detailing is a little heavy. Although not visible in the photos, I used Eduard’s etched set for the Hasegawa G3M to add some detail to the cockpit, and also scratch-built some details for the undercarriage wells. The model was hand-painted using Xtracolor Gunmetal, which I find produces a nicely subdued metallic effect.

I like very much Derek's Nippon-go and the tiny flag is a nice touch. 3.9 from me.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of building the same plane using a Hasegawa kit but it will involve a lot of work so I left it for next year.
I give it a 4.0. Always been a fan of the G3M.
