Yokosuka MXY7 "Ohka" - video

Following our past posts with Yokosuka MXY7 "Ohka" photos, here and here, today we post a video from British Pathé, from here.

No doubt, "baka" was the name the allies gave it, still commonly used when some people refer to it. Much prefer "Ohka" myself. You have to think, this was almost the same thing as a V-1, as the video suggests, but with it's human guidance system, it could be much more accurate. I know it's a different mindset, then as opposed to now, but it doesn't make it any less tragic when you think about it.

There was a manned V-1 project in Germany, too - the FZG-76 Reichenberg. That's probably what the video is referring to. It was to be used against an invasion fleet, but the project was dropped. A few were captured by the ATAIU. At least one was sent to England and two to the US, for the Navy and the USAAF respectively.
