Japanese Aircraft Online Model Contest 005 - JEAN BARBY

Here's my latest Japanese model; an A6M2-N of the 934th Kokutai. It's the old Tamiya kit, nearly 35 years old, updated with SBS A6M2 cockpit, engraved and riveted, all markings done with home made masks. WEM Nakajima «ameiro» for the undersides and Tamiya IJN Green for the upper surfaces.

Wow. If this first entry by Jean is any indication, we are going to be seeing some fantastic work. Jean's model has it all: superb interior detail, paint and markings, and just enough weathering to make it realistic. My vote is 4.9. Jean has laid down a fine gauntlet. I can't wait to see what the others have to present!

jean's models are always to a high standard, I'll give it a 4.9 only because nothing's perfect!

Wow ! That's the first !? Then I have to really do my homework...
I appreciate in the first place the good chosen colors. The wear and tear are discrete and placed very well and ads to the realism of the whole.
The paint job is fantastic. I especially like the in field corrected areas on the bottom of the float.
Grime streaks on the belly are credible also.
The polished metal of the propeller is great.
Details are in scale - with a special mention for the bomb launcher.
Pictures give the viewer the possibility to rightfully judge the work.
The only thing I don't know is the scale, but comparing to the artworks, I guess it's 1/48.
For all that I will note this work with 5.

It takes courage to be first, but less so with such an excellent model. Very well done, Jean. I particularly like the engraving detail and the weathering. The yellow chroma appears a bit bright (underside, markings), maybe due to the photo presentation. 4.7 from me.

Magnifique!
I thought about finishing the same kit in time for the contest but after this there is no point. Great details, great finishing: worn but not like a tank.
4.9 only because the interior of the cowling is too clean.....

Fine modelling and a really good finish. Mine wont get any where near that but it is very inspirational. Gets 4.8 from me.

Nice.

I'm giving a 4.7 only because the yellow is just a bit too much. I love the rest though. Very good.
