San Diego Air & Space Museum Archives, includes photographs showing USS
Barnes (CVE-20) crossing the Panama Canal, after a stop at Alameda, California and before reaching her destination in the Naval Base at Norfolk, Virginia.

The photo above reveals more details about the a/c behind the Kawasaki Ki-45 "Toryu" (a/c number 17). The radio mast on the canopy and the radar antenna on the nose shows that it is a Yokosuka P1Y2-S "Ginga" night fighter. Let's call this a/c number 24.

What I do not see are the the J2M3 and B7A2, G8N1,the Ki54 & Ki67, were they shipped on another carrier? thanks for posting these very nice pictures!
George,
I think there is a mistake in the list of second batch. Aircraft #9 seems to be a Zero, while #8 is a Shiden and #10 should be a Tenzan. Am I correct?
